Savanna is currently seeking qualified experienced Assistant Driller's, residing in Australia to join our growing Heavy Drilling Rig teams working 2&2 rosters.

What will you be doing?
As the Assistant Driller you would be responsible for assisting the Driller and team in the operation of drilling machinery and equipment safely with prime responsibility in assisting the supervising all tasked performed by the reports Derrickhand, Motorhand, Floorhand and Leasehand.
You'll be typically:
- Support the Driller with the training other crew members (Derrickhand, Motorhands) on performing operations safely & effectively
- Carrying out basic servicing & maintenance of rig engines & equipment.
- Training of all crew members on all aspects of the rig operations and equipment
- Accountable and responsible for rig condition and housekeeping
- Organise and complete maintenance requirements on the rig
- Demonstrate an advanced understanding of rig operations
- Use technology to monitor and report on work progress
- Operate the rig for all required operations
- Advanced knowledge in all well control requirements (kick detection, kill sheets, well control principles)
What experience & skills must you possess?
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- An understanding of rig operations, downhole processes & problems;
- An understanding of servicing/maintaining rig engines & equipment;
- A positive attitude towards safety, policies & procedures;
- As a minimum, a Certificate III & Certificate II in Drilling Oil/Gas (Onshore); &
- Relevant industry experience.

- Have the full right to live and work in Australia
- The ability to work outdoors, in remote locations
- Physical strength and stamina
- The ability to work long hours and in extreme weather conditions
- Must be able to work at heights
- Able to follow directions and company policies
- Must be able to complete on job and other training within allocated time
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Valid open and manual full C (Car) Class driver’s licence
- Awareness of Chain of Responsibility Regulations
- A general knowledge of machinery is considered to be an asset
- Must be a team player, good communicator, have sound safety appreciation, time management and competent computer skills
- Must be able to work outdoors in all seasons; 12 hours a day, for extended periods away from home location. Vigorous manual labor required
- Clean National Police Clearance Record (less than 1 month old)
Assistant Driller roles MUST have valid certifications (additional to preferred certifications):
- Certificate II and Certificate III in Oil/Gas Drilling Operations (On shore)
- Current IWCF Level 3 Certificate
The following valid certifications are preferred, though training can be provided to exceptional candidates:
- Industry Safety Induction (or DCGI with current industry experience)
- Front End Loader (minimum requirement of RIIMPO321 or RIIMPO304)
- First response to fire incidents (less than 4 years old)
- Operate Breathing Apparatus (less than 1 year old)
- First Aid (including CPR) (less than 3 years old)
- Enter and work in Confined Space with Gas Test Atmospheres (less than 2 years old)
- Wellsite Permit to Work (Holder) (less than 2 years old)
- Working at Heights with Gotcha Kit (less than 3 years old)
- Operate Vehicles in the Field (4WD certificate) (less than 5 years old)
